What is Revolutions for Research?

Revolutions for Research is an exciting way to raise funds in support of lifesaving cancer research. Get your heart pumping with what is sure to be the biggest and best indoor cycling class of your life! For one day, the Fillmore Philadelphia, brings in 100 state-of-the-art stationary bikes, and creates an empowering fundraising experience complete with vendors, celebrity appearances, and fitness demonstrations. All proceeds from the event benefit the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).

What is the AACR?

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) raises funds to cure all of the more than 200 types of cancer. As the world’s first and largest cancer research organization, founded in 1907, the AACR works with institutions and scientists in over 120 countries to understand, prevent, and eradicate every type of cancer. In just the last 17 years, the AACR has provided over $382 million in funding ensure that the world is moving towards being cancer-free. We are dedicated to fundraising in innovative ways and to making sure that the maximum amount of each donation goes directly to cancer research.

What types of cancer does Revolutions for Research fundraising benefit?

Funds raised by Revolutions for Research participants will go directly to the AACR, which is dedicated to preventing, treating, and curing ALL of the more than 200 types of cancer.

When and where is Revolutions for Research?

The next Revolutions for Research event will take place in Philadelphia, PA on October 6, 2018 at the Fillmore Philadelphia. Wave 1 is from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. and Wave 2 is from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. You can participate in one or both sessions.

How do I sign up? Is there a fee?

Click the 'Register' button at the top right of any page of this site to register. Registration is $50 for one session or $75 for both sessions. Once you sign up, the fundraising minimum for each rider will be set at $200, which cannot be entered as a lower number. Please know we are grateful for any amount you raise and you are not required to reach this goal. Your registration fee, and all team members’ fees, go towards the fundraising minimum.

Is there a limit to how many members per team?

Teams may consist of up to 3 members, who will take turns riding the team’s stationary bike during the program. Alternatively, individuals seeking a bigger challenge may sign up as an Intense Rider. All registrants are responsible for raising a minimum of $200 in donations.

How many bikes are allowed per team?

Each team of up to 3 people will be allotted one bike.

How long will each person ride?

Each shift will last for one and a half hours, and during your shift, team members may switch off riding as often as they would like to.

How much experience is required to participate?

No experience is required to participate in Revolutions for Research. First-time riders are welcome as well as seasoned cyclists.

Is there a minimum age requirement to participate?

Revolutions for Research is open to participants age 12 and over.

Is a Revolutions for Research donation tax deductible?

Yes, your donation is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law, and you will be given a receipt for U.S. tax purposes.

How much of my donation will go towards cancer research?

We direct 88 cents of every dollar you raise to support lifesaving cancer research.

What kinds of research will my donation be funding?

The AACR's scientific expertise spreads across the entire spectrum of cancer research from basic science to translational and clinical research for all of the more than 200 types of cancer.

Is there an individual fundraising requirement?

There is no fundraising minimum for each rider. A goal of $200 will be set upon registration, which cannot be entered as a lower number. Please know we are grateful for any amount you raise and you are not required to reach this goal.
